(Unfortunately) I need to do occasional work with an old PC running Win XP.
It works slow, begging for re-installation. I expect it to be malware infected, but my commercial antivirus is up-to-date yet calm. Yet something makes me think it’s doing something I didn’t ask; to put it simply, perhaps a new virus is there.
Ubuntu doesn’t need one for its own. (However, there are some to help fight windows-targeted malware). The very fact of absence of antivirus doesn’t involve there is no ubuntu-targeted malware.
The thought is: either you have “unpopular” OS that is unlikely to get infected, or you’ve got a “popular” one that runs some new virus.
You’re on top of the game. Thanks for shrnaig.
